How do the specialists at the Institute treat genitourinary cancers?

You’ll have a team of experts by your side from the beginning. Every patient is offered care at our multidisciplinary urologic oncology clinic before starting treatment. During this clinic, you will sit with the experts on your care team to review imaging and test results. We’ll also discuss treatment options and spend time answering your questions.

Our team of specialists will collaborate on a treatment plan that fits your needs. These experts include medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists and surgical oncologists who all specialize in urology. Frequently Asked Questions

  • An MRI fusion biopsy is a diagnostic test that allows us to take more precise biopsies of a prostate tumor. This test combines an ultrasound with detailed images from an MRI. This combined image helps us pinpoint the exact location of the prostate tumor. The Institute was one of the first centers in the region to use this advanced testing process.

  • We offer genetic testing for people who may have a hereditary predisposition that increases their risk of developing cancer. Understanding this risk can help us develop better treatment and prevention plans for you and your family.

If we suspect you have a genetic risk for cancer, you’ll meet with our genetic counselor to discuss testing options. In some cases, we may recommend your family members undergo genetic counseling and testing to understand their risk.
