New Baptist Health Orthopedic Complex Treats You Like A Pro Athlete

Baptist Health Orthopedic Care

Whether you’re the star forward of your soccer team, a beloved member of your pickleball league or a busy grandparent, when you twist your knee, roll your ankle or feel your back pull, you need help. Experts at Baptist Health Orthopedic Care may care for professional athletes on a daily basis, but they also want to keep you moving. And with the opening of the new Baptist Health Orthopedic Complex in Miami Gardens, you can get the care you need right where the pros are treated.

Serving Miami Dolphins players and the public alike with comprehensive and convenient orthopedic care, the 17,000-square-foot complex is located across the street from the Hard Rock Stadium campus and adjacent to the Baptist Health Training Complex. In Speaking from the Hip, we discuss features of the new facility with orthopedic surgeon Gautam Yagnik, M.D., and primary care sports medicine physician Michael Swartzon, M.D. Watch video below:

Q:  Tell us about some of the services at the new facility.

Dr. Swartzon: In addition to diagnostics and physical therapy, we are going to have our entire complement of orthopedic surgeons for all of the subspecialties, so hand, foot, ankle and spine ― surgeons who do hip and knee replacements, the sports surgeons and the primary care sports medicine team. We’re also excited that in the performance part of the building, we have body mass and VO2 max testing, pushing the limits on endurance.

Q: What does “going where the pros go” look like from a care standpoint?

Dr. Swartzon: Taking care of professional athletes is the highest level of sports medicine. We use the latest techniques to get them better safely and quickly. We can use that knowledge to help any other person in the community.

Q: Explain some of the technology that is part of the facility.

Dr. Yagnik: We have the latest technology in imaging, including digital X-ray and a diagnostic imaging center with 3D MRI and thin-cut CT. We have the latest rehab technologies and techniques, along with the best equipment and therapists, designed to mirror what the athletes are getting.

Q: How accessible is this new location for the community?

Dr. Yagnik: It’s centrally located between Broward and Miami-Dade and accessible from three major highways. And it’s kind of a landmark location in Miami. It’s not just football; it’s international soccer events, the Miami Open, F1 racing.

Q: Baptist Health Orthopedic Care has expanded its footprint. Tell us about other locations.

Dr. Swartzon: We have locations from the Keys to Palm Beach. We know it can be hard for patients to get in, so all of these other offices allow patients to be seen closer to where they live and work. It’s important to be seen in a timely manner when you’re in pain.

Q: What makes Baptist Health Orthopedic Care so special?

Dr. Swartzon: It’s not only taking care of the Dolphins players and their staff; it’s the community. For example, the Miami Dolphins and Baptist Health foundations have partnered up to help our high schools and their coaches with events, equipment and wellness.

Dr. Yagnik: You also touched on our high-tech, state-of-the-art facilities. But probably the most important thing is our people. It starts with our physicians who are all fellowship-trained and some of the best in the country, and then it continues with all of our staff. Whether they’re in the clinic or the operating room, they are constantly striving for excellence and to delivering that high-quality, compassionate care.

Patients receive personalized treatment, and many injuries can be resolved with nonsurgical treatment. The new Baptist Health Orthopedic Care complex, located at 19955 NW 27 Ave., Suite 200, Miami Gardens, FL 33056, also offers a view of the Dolphins practice facility.
