Born out of compelling community need in 1967, Boca Raton Regional Hospital is a not-for-profit, advanced tertiary medical center. The hospital is a recognized leader in cardiovascular care, oncology, women’s health, orthopedics, emergency medicine and the neurosciences, all of which offer state-of-the-art diagnostic and imaging capabilities.

About Boca Raton Regional Hospital

In 1962, Gloria and Robert Drummond’s children, Debbie and James Randall, were tragically poisoned and died before reaching medical attention 30 minutes away. The small Boca Raton community rallied to build a hospital “of its own” to ensure that area residents would have access to quality healthcare and life-saving emergency care when they needed it the most. Eighteen passionate and dedicated women joined with Gloria, who led the effort to raise funds, and formed the Debbie-Rand Memorial Service League. From bake sales and fiestas to a black-tie Ball, the community raised the funds to build a hospital that would develop into a nationally-ranked medical center.

As a result of these efforts and born out of this compelling community need, in 1967 Boca Raton Regional Hospital opened its doors as a not-for-profit community hospital, and the organization has eventually grown into an advanced tertiary medical center with 400 beds and more than 800 primary and specialty physicians on staff.

Boca Raton Regional Hospital is one of only four hospitals in Palm Beach County to be designated by the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA) as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, and is also ranked #1 in Palm Beach County and among the best in the nation by the 2020-2021 U.S. News & World Report.

Resources for Hospital Data

Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) makes available data on hospital prices and performance on their Internet website at FloridaHealthFinder.gov and Pricing.FloridaHealthFinder.gov. The data on hospital prices and performance are based on a compilation of charges for the average patient. A patient's bill may vary from the average shown, depending upon the severity of illness and individual care needs. The service bundle information is a non-personalized estimate of costs that may be incurred by the patient for anticipated services and that actual costs will be based on services actually provided to the patient.
